Healthy tasty Masala oats!

Healthy Masala Oats:



I love to stay fit and eat healthy and along with that eat really tasty food. I believe that it is our duty to keep our taste buds happy! Thus, I have come up with a simple masala oats recipe which is very easy to make and yummy in taste. The preparation time here is just 12 mins roughly. So, it will be useful to have healthy food even if you are in rush for work. So, let’s start….

Masala Oats


Ingredients:
  • ·        1 cup (around 60 gm) of rolled oats ( or any oats available)
  • ·        1 onion finely chopped
  • ·        1 tomato finely chopped
  • ·        2 tsp cumin seeds
  • ·        ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ·        ½ tsp Red Chilly powder
  • ·        Salt as per taste
  • ·        3 tsp oil
  • ·        ½  cup water
  • ·        Some finely chopped coriander for garnishing.


Method:
  • ·        Heat up a pan and add 3 tsp of oil in it.
  • ·        Now add 2 tsp of cumin seeds to the oil. Once they start to crackle add the chopped onions and tomatoes to it.
  • ·        Saute them for 1 min and then add turmeric powder and red chilly powder to it according to the quantities specified above. Saute the mixture for another 1 minute.
  • ·        Now add the oats to it. Also add some water to it. Add salt as per your taste.
  • ·        Let it cook for around 5 minutes and we are done. Garnish the ready oats with chopped coriander and serve it hot.

Benefits of eating Oats:

  1. Oats are gluten-free whole grain and a very good source of vitamins and fibers .
  2. Oats contain antioxidants like Avenanthramides. They help in managing blood sugar and therefore very useful for people who have diabetes.
  3. The fibers present in oats also help to lower and maintain proper cholesterol  level in the body.
  4. Oat meal is very filling, thus avoids us from having untimely hunger issues. Therefore it also helps in reducing weight.

Why eat masala oats? 
Because they are filled with goodness of these tasty oats and also contain different healthy vegetables like onion, tomatoes, green peas, carrots etc. Oats do not have their own taste. Thus masala oats makes the regular bland oats into tasty meal.

Why to avoid ready made or packaged masala oats?
Most of packaged oats contain a large amount of sodium content and a lot of preservatives which are not good for health. Thus if we can have tasty oats within 10-12 minutes at home then why to rely on packaged products!?
